Here are some things We didn't like:

• No sample-sizes of their meals
• The food may not agree with dogs who have sensitive stomachs.
• The actual meals do not look as appetizing as the photos on their website.

The cost of Pet Plate will depend on how much your dog eats. The amount that your dog eats will depend on how large she is, whether she’s active or inactive, and whether she’s already at her ideal weight or needs to gain or lose a few pounds.

The following price is based on the profile of a neutered mixed-breed male, 6 years old, 22 pounds, healthy size.

Taste Test

Since receiving the Pet Plate meals a few weeks ago, Baxter has tried all four flavors. He goes nuts as soon as he sees the white container in our hand.

When we opened the containers it was easy to identify the ingredients. Vegetables like carrots, squash and potatoes can clearly be seen mixed in. The food also has a pleasant “human food” smell and not at all like traditional wet dog food.

The containers are great because they are pre-portioned to meet your dog's dietary needs. For the first few days, Pet Plate food should make up ¼ of each meal. This transitioning could take 7-14 days.

The first week of meals we did add Pet Plate to his kibble and increased the amount daily. We heated the food container in the microwave for about one minute before serving it to him.

We also removed the food from the containers at dinner time. While they are convenient for storage, our dogs mouth is too big to try and eat out of the small size container.

In the end, our dog loved all 4 Pet Plate recipes.

PetPlate Unboxing

We received 28 (16 ounce) containers of food, which included all four recipes and equates to two weeks of meals for my dog. Each container has a day’s worth of food with serving instruction clearly listed on the back. The box is packed with dry ice and in an insulated liner to keep the food very cold. Pet Plate also states you can store the containers in your freezer (for 18 months), and keep food to serve your dog in the refrigerator to defrost.

The recyclable, pre-portioned containers will last for 7 to 10 days in the fridge with the lids closed. Once the meals are open they should last for 3 to 4 more days.

Also included was helpful note cards that explain basic feeding tips, transitioning and how to store Pet Plate foods.

The containers are also microwave friendly, in case your dog is picky about eating cold food.
